YOGA

Yoga, which means "union," is a 5,000-year-old tradition that can help you to restore the optimal balance of your mind, body and spirit. A science and an art, yoga includes infinite variations, but all combine an awareness of your physical body, your mind’s focus and your breath.

Yoga can be active. Yoga can be passive. It is a very personal process. Your practice may be different from your neighbor’s approach, or vary day-to-day, depending on your particular needs at any given time. One day, you may want to focus more on activating and strengthening your muscles. Another day, you may want to work on your breathing and releasing stress and emotional strain.

At Smart Body Movement, our approach to yoga compliments the fundamentals of Pilates, Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis. Our yoga instructors focus on alignment and the fundamental poses and breathing methods, with the goal of helping you to de-stress, strengthen your whole body, and enhance your awareness and proper use of your back.

No matter how you approach it, yoga meets you where you are and helps you to move, feel and be your way into the person you'd like to be. When practiced sincerely, attentively and with a teacher you feel comfortable with, it can produce profound changes in your life.
